Happy Anthro Markdown Tuesday! + Store Report: Checked Crops, Starred Entry Tee, Across The Lands Dress (Green Motif)

I stopped in at Vancouver Anthropologie today to pick up the Readymade Dress which has been on my wish list ever since I tried it on on a whim. I'm a bit disappointed at the sale price since I expected it would probably get marked down to about $59 since It's marked down to the same price as the Reflecting Pools Dress which is originally priced at $10 more then the Readymade dress. Not a huge deal, I was just hoping for a lower price today. I'm just glad the sale prices in Vancouver are the same as online.
Shoes in store again today. Oooh I wish they would carry the entire selection of Anthro shoes, especially Miss Albright.

So as I said, I tried the Readymade dress on before (over here) and was really impressed with the fit. I'm still hesitating on keeping it or not because the style is restricted to just summer and $69 is steep for a seasonal dress. Also, I have the Sailboat Skirt and it seems like having two nautical themed outfits is a little much..but I do love it. And, I'm not sure how I feel about the Chambray. Will it be too dated by next year? The fit is really flattering on me since it makes me really long torso seem shorter and my really short legs seem longer. I also really like how simple and comfortable this dress is. It sort of feels as comfortable as wearing sweats. Probably a keeper although I need to mull over if I want to hold out for second cut.

I decided to try it on with the Starred Entry Tee just to see if I can fall this dress up and I think it's possible although the way this top clings around my middle and where the top of the skirt sits I think this look needs to be belted.

I LOVE this dress in this colorway. It's a funny way to do up a dress with eye hooks down the sides and at the neckline. It makes this really a wrap dress without a sash. I'm not sure I love how big the peep hole is at the bust.. I felt a bit exposed and would probably wear a black bandeau bra underneath to shorten the cleavage exposure but otherwise the dress was perfect. I really love the print and color in this dress. It's quite fall but can be worn in summer or spring as well. It's a size 10 and felt quite comfortable and roomy so I'd stick with this size. Wish listed for markdown or possible full price purchase if a dressy function pops up.

My store finally got the Checked Crops in today (after I've ordered online). I really like the fabric in these pants. I was initially sceptical that I would like the fabric since it's polyester but it's a really soft, thick and brushed fabric and totally not itchy. The crops, as you can see, are really pant length on me. This is just fine by me since I plan on wearing this mostly with my boots or with my flats and if I wear it with chunky heels I can roll the cuff higher. The fit on these pants are a bit big and higher rise. I tried these on in a size down from my usual (12 in most pants) since they didn't have my size in. I'm going to stick with my true size since I think I need the baggier fit over my athletic thighs to prevent the pattern from distorting and just so it drapes a bit better in my upper thighs and butt. If you have narrower hips then me I would suggest sizing down in these as all the SA's in my store have tried them on and preferred the size down. If the one I ordered fits not too much roomier then these ones then I will keep them, if there is a big difference in size I will return and wait for markdown for this size.

The Starred Entry Tee I have really mixed feelings about. I really love the orange and the grey colorway but unfortunately they really cling to my muffin top and highlight it. The Blue colorway seemed to disguise my problem areas more and was a bit better balanced on me then the others so I brought it home to think about. This is a large and I take a medium or large in most tops. I think there is not a lot of difference in fit in this shirt between medium and large but I got the large for the bit of extra length in the torso so that I could bunch it up a bit around the middle to hide my tummy. I also think that the horizontal seam across the front may be a problem for some depending on bust size and where it lays on you. May be returning this top and waiting for markdown.

Anthropologie Fall Fashions

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I get about fall fashion. I love summer but there is something about fall clothing that is so much more exciting and substantial. I always find my summer wardrobe is much less made up of investment pieces and are much more cheaper disposable fashion or items from summers past. Whatever I buy in the summer that is pricey must be wearable in the fall months as well. Shorts and tanks I'm more then happy to purchase at places like Joe Fresh or Old Navy but once we hit Fall I love substantial shoes, coats and sweaters.

This dress is after my heart with it's retro shape and red polka dot print. I can see this one making it's way into my closet and worn with tall riding boots. Am I too late with the rugged riding boots and pretty dress style? I just ordered my first pair of tall boots ever (post to come shortly) and was hoping to wear it with dresses. I think that style would make me more comfortable wearing a dress very casually.

This is another dress I love for it's print and it's shape. Dandelions are adorable and the blue shades are exactly what I gravitate to in my closet. I really hope fall brings me many excuses to wear pretty dresses. Dinners out, date nights and work functions with my husband would be very justifiable reasons to have some pretty dresses on hand.

A couple of pretty and versatile cardigans are on my needs list for fall and winter. I get very overheated fast indoors in the winter since so many people like to crank the heat. I'm really surprised I don't own one single cardigan. I have one wrap sweater that gets way overused and I think it's time to add a cardigan or two. This one is really pretty in the red and I really like it's cropped shape but what I'm not sure about is that it's an open cardigan and also, I think if I get an Anthro cardi it must be 'special' with a pretty print or embellishment. Otherwise I can stick to Old Navy for something more plain.

This blouse is definitely wish listed. I love the owl print on it and the sleeves and necktie. It reminds me of the Loosened Shelby Blouse in the lemon yellow print. I loved that blouse except for the sleeves and this blouse seems to solve what I didn't like and embellishes what I loved. A cute print, yellow background, and preppy neck tie.

Oh god I love the newest skirts added to the website. The preppy/nautical/military style skirts are really calling to me. I especially love the wool grey and yellow colorblocked sweater skirt.

I can see myself wearing this skirt a lot with sturdy heels/booties or flats or even perhaps tall boots. I love that it can be paired with several colors and has that added small pop of color in the yellow ribbon detail. This to me seems like a staple skirt. The teal is lovely as well but I think I'd get less use in that color and would be more limited in color pairings.

This is such a pretty skirt for Summer/Fall/Spring. I love the butterfly detail at the waist and the antiqued beigey colored background. I love this skirt but I think this one will be a wait until markdowns item.

I initially thought I needed a new coat for Fall/Winter but I do have one from last year that I love and a cropped pea coat from 4 years ago that still works. My problem with last years coat is that it's a size and a half big on me but I can still use it (especially with a heavy sweater underneath) and the cropped pea coat is perhaps a half size too small. Between the two of them I'm probably covered. I would have loved to been able to take in my too big jacket but with it's design it would be very pricey if at all possible. I went thru a phase a few years ago where I was obsessed with dressy wool coats. I can see this obsession returning if Anthro comes out with some nice designs this fall and winter. I always put a wool coat on my Christmas wish list but it's always annoying to have to wait so long for a new jacket and then get to enjoy it for a shorter period of time. Ah well.

Shoes! My other love besides coats.

These are really cute and funky. I love the greeny/grey color best but the turquoise is fun too. I don't see myself wearing these shoes but they are lovely eye candy none the less.

My recent shoe purchase (post coming soon) is very similar to these in style so I was excited to see these in the anthro catalogue since my purchase was from a shoe from 2009/2010 and I wasn't sure if they would work with this years fashions. I love the sturdyness of it mixed with the feminine peep toe. This style of shoe is easily an everyday versatile shoe.
Not loving the cloak style of jacket. It's a cute style on others but I don't see myself participating.

I don't love these boots persay but i've been anxiously anticipating Anthro's fall boot selection. I sorely missed out last year but saw a lot of boots I loved online so I'm excited to finally see some boots for this year.
well it looks like, according to Anthro, that the rugged boot and pretty dress style is still in. Thank goodness! I love the style as it allows you to wear dresses more casually which is always my goal. I hate looking like I took a lot of effort in an outfit since I always lean towards more casual.

These are so, so cute. I love the colors it comes in and would have trouble picking which I like best. Since I lean to a more casual effortless style that naturally means I also love slide on backless shoes.

Anthro Free Shipping Until July 15th

No markdowns today except for the loverly free shipping offer (for US addresses only) until July 15th. I'm excited about this offer because I loath, loath shipping fees. Especially since I've been very spoiled with Lululemon free shipping and overnight delivery. Now that I'm signed up with Hagens of Blaine postal services I can fully take advantage of the free shipping offer from Anthro and since I'm on a bit of a closet overhaul and busily selling off some of my 'slouchy, casual mommy outifts' on ebay I'm enjoying upgrading to more feminine and put together anthro pieces. I'm still really trying to find my style though and see what works for my figure and lifestyle. I'm a stay at home mom so casual and comfortable is still the key..I'm just looking for a more sophisticated interpretation of that. Gosh I hope Anthro Vancouver brings in stylists and personal shoppers (is that a free service in other locations?). I could sure use some help and direction.

Things that caught my eye today:

Ocean's Horizon Tank $228
I love the look of this top and the blue tie dyed 'ocean' print paired with the feminine detailed straps. If this had been priced like the Heartsease Habotai Blouse I probably would have purchased it today but the price tag of $228 really turned me off. This will have to be significantly marked down for me to consider it and more along the lines of the $60-$80ish range.  If I was going to spend $228 on one single article of clothing I'd probably jump on the Backswept Dress instead for more bang for my buck. I don't mean to poo-poo the pricing on this tank but it's just not what I expect to pay for a small and simpler piece with less seam construction then a full dress.

Slung Silk Scarf Tank
This was the blouse I tried on the other day that had not yet been uploaded to the website. I really like this top and the sweat yellow floral print with clashing ribbon details on the neckline. I love it but the cut does not work for my figure unless it's belted or tucked in. Wishlisted for markdown.

Grapevine Tank Waveryly Grey $78
This is a beautiful tank. I love the lace detailing over the royal blue flower print. Wishlisted for markdown.
I purchased this one today. I really love the feminine floral print combined with the more masculine slouchy boyfriend cardigan fit. I have very few cardigans and would really like to wear more come fall and the price of $29.95 was irresistible. I'm getting the hang of this markdown shopping I think. I <3 you Anthro for doing such amazing markdowns.
This was another purchase today that I added to bring my total up to free shipping status. I've been meaning to get a pretty oversized belt for a long time now since I don't have one at all and really like the belted look. This fills a hole in my closet and I hope it gets a lot of use. For $29.95 it's hard to go wrong though.

This one was a full price purchase that I may not keep. I've been drawn to it for quite some time and have seen a few images of it and the print is just so beautiful. I love a good watercolor floral print on silk. I ordered it in a 10 since it's silk and not stretchy but I suspect I could have and probably should have gone with the 8. My dress and skirt size is most often size 10 but that's to accommodate my hips. Ah well...free shipping makes this worth a try on in the comfort of my home.

The other day when I tried this dress on in the print I thought to myself how much I would have loved it in the Navy colorway and then I figured it was long gone. I've been having a love affair lately with Navy  so I probably would have gotten this one full price. Today I noticed it online marked down but sadly my size was sold out. It was just not meant to be I guess.

These beauties arrived this morning and I am totally in love with them. I was a bit confused about what size to order since all of the reviews say size down. My shoe size is most often size 9 but used to be 8.5 and the occasional 9 until I went thru two pregnancies and my feet seem to have spread. My other issue is that my right foot is a half size smaller then my left foot. I ordered the size 9's and then immediately panicked and called customer service and had them change it to an 8.5 which ended up being the right choice. The toe area was slightly snug this morning but the leather is so supple that it will stretch to the correct size in no time at all. My right foot moves slightly up and down in the heel area thanks to my half size difference, but once my foot warms up and the leather warms up my skin seems to grip the leather better and the sliding stops.  The 8.5 was totally the right size for me and these are extremely comfortable wedges. I think you are better off going with your lower size because even if it's snug to start you can have them stretched up half a size but if they are too big they will be unwearable. I also love that the bottom of the shoe is rubber and so there is no slipping and sliding on certain surfaces. Well worth full price and will go beautifully with all of the Navy items in my closet.

Do We See A Pattern Emerging?

I just got my Lemon Stick Wedges in the mail today, bright and early and ready for our playdate in which wearing these shoes would be considered totally overdressed. But who cares. I like my shoes and I want to wear them in. My love affair with butter yellow shoes started last year with these adorable See Kai Run Mary Janes I got for my then two year old. These shoes have been worn to hell but I'm keeping them for when my one year old can also wear them unless I can find them again brand new. This is the joy of having two daughters. This right here, wearing matching shoes with a three year old that has painted toenails in 'you don't know jaques' by OPI.  I'll write a review of my Lemon Stick Wedges later today but for now I can tell you I am in love with them.

I've Been Reaaaal Bad!

Yesterday I was combing thru ebay (cheaper shipping rates and american prices) in search of these Lemon Stick Wedges that I have been literally fantasizing about daily since they first appeared on the website. My ebay search was totally fruitless except that I saw plenty of Primped and Pebbled Boots that were my Fall/Winter obsession and 'ones that got away'. I really hope that come Fall when I'm ready to order some boots I can still find these on ebay in brand new condition. I love them dearly. Seeing them on ebay though reminded me of the disappointment of not getting them when I had the chance and the need for them and so I decided to bite the bullet and order these lovelies finally. I'm so glad that I did because I would have been so mad at myself once they sold out and I have not seen a single pair of wedge sandals that I've liked even a little bit in comparison with these. I tried having my friend pick up a pair for me at her local store in the US but sadly they were all sold out except online. My new wedges should arrive in 7-10 business days unless it gets held up at customs, or the Canada Post strike affects my mail deliver. I hope these come in UPS or FedEx.
Fresh off the shopping high of these shoes my husband declared to me last night that he would take a day off on Friday so that we could go to Seattle for some shopping What a good husband! He realizes this means the main destination will be both Anthropologies but he's still fine with that. He enjoys going on road trips even when it means I'll be shopping while he stands around outside with one or both children.
I'd like to try this dress on on Friday. I love the pleated bubble hem in the back and I love how loose fitting and summery this dress is. I'm in the market for a semi casual summer dress since I passed on this multi way one from Lululemon. I decided I think I want something a little fancier but still casual for that price ($88). I don't really *need* anything else on from Anthropolgie but I'm sure I'll find something. I'll make sure and post all about that trip and take plenty of pictures in store (love that anthro doesn't bat an eye at customers taking photos!) Anthro shopping is so much more fun now that I know what's in stores and what's current thanks to the new Vancouver Anthropolgie.
