Happy Anthro Markdown Tuesday! + Store Report: Checked Crops, Starred Entry Tee, Across The Lands Dress (Green Motif)

I stopped in at Vancouver Anthropologie today to pick up the Readymade Dress which has been on my wish list ever since I tried it on on a whim. I'm a bit disappointed at the sale price since I expected it would probably get marked down to about $59 since It's marked down to the same price as the Reflecting Pools Dress which is originally priced at $10 more then the Readymade dress. Not a huge deal, I was just hoping for a lower price today. I'm just glad the sale prices in Vancouver are the same as online.

Shoes in store again today. Oooh I wish they would carry the entire selection of Anthro shoes, especially Miss Albright. 

Readymade Dress

So as I said, I tried the Readymade dress on before (over here) and was really impressed with the fit. I'm still hesitating on keeping it or not because the style is restricted to just summer and $69 is steep for a seasonal dress. Also, I have the Sailboat Skirt and it seems like having two nautical themed outfits is a little much..but I do love it. And, I'm not sure how I feel about the Chambray. Will it be too dated by next year? The fit is really flattering on me since it makes me really long torso seem shorter and my really short legs seem longer. I also really like how simple and comfortable this dress is. It sort of feels as comfortable as wearing sweats. Probably a keeper although I need to mull over if I want to hold out for second cut. 

 I decided to try it on with the Starred Entry Tee just to see if I can fall this dress up and I think it's possible although the way this top clings around my middle and where the top of the skirt sits I think this look needs to be belted. 

 Across The Lands Dress Green Motif

I LOVE this dress in this colorway. It's a funny way to do up a dress with eye hooks down the sides and at the neckline. It makes this really a wrap dress without a sash. I'm not sure I love how big the peep hole is at the bust.. I felt a bit exposed and would probably wear a black bandeau bra underneath to shorten the cleavage exposure but otherwise the dress was perfect. I really love the print and color in this dress. It's quite fall but can be worn in summer or spring as well. It's a size 10 and felt quite comfortable and roomy so I'd stick with this size. Wish listed for markdown or possible full price purchase if a dressy function pops up.

Checked Crops

My store finally got the Checked Crops in today (after I've ordered online). I really like the fabric in these pants. I was initially sceptical that I would like the fabric since it's polyester but it's a really soft, thick and brushed fabric and totally not itchy. The crops, as you can see, are really pant length on me. This is just fine by me since I plan on wearing this mostly with my boots or with my flats and if I wear it with chunky heels I can roll the cuff higher. The fit on these pants are a bit big and higher rise. I tried these on in a size down from my usual (12 in most pants) since they didn't have my size in. I'm going to stick with my true size since I think I need the baggier fit over my athletic thighs to prevent the pattern from distorting and just so it drapes a bit better in my upper thighs and butt. If you have narrower hips then me I would suggest sizing down in these as all the SA's in my store have tried them on and preferred the size down. If the one I ordered fits not too much roomier then these ones then I will keep them, if there is a big difference in size I will return and wait for markdown for this size. 

The Starred Entry Tee I have really mixed feelings about. I really love the orange and the grey colorway but unfortunately they really cling to my muffin top and highlight it. The Blue colorway seemed to disguise my problem areas more and was a bit better balanced on me then the others so I brought it home to think about. This is a large and I take a medium or large in most tops. I think there is not a lot of difference in fit in this shirt between medium and large but I got the large for the bit of extra length in the torso so that I could bunch it up a bit around the middle to hide my tummy. I also think that the horizontal seam across the front may be a problem for some depending on bust size and where it lays on you. May be returning this top and waiting for markdown. 

Anthropologie Vancouver Store Report and Fit Review

I went in today in hopes of trying on some of the new items that have appeared on the website over the last two weeks and that have made there way onto my wish list but sadly I only found a few of the newest items to try on. I tried on the Layered Column Dress but mysteriously my picture disappeared off my iphone by the time I got home. I tried on an large and I would say it was TTS. It's pretty on but for the price of $178 (more like $190's in Canada) I was not interested in it enough to even wish list it. Brilliant Chaos Shift,Flower Stand Dress, Beau Ideal Dress, Lila Frock, Afterlight Dress (stunning print and colors in person), Bright Bandana Dress, Aine Pencil Skirt were all in and had just been unpacked so there were only size 6's stocked on the shelf.  I'll use that as my excuse to go back soon to try some of these on. The Gathering Tank is now available in store in all colorways and I was feeling mighty tempted by the Turquoise and the Lilac. Another interesting thing was that they had a new display of these Muted Shades Loafers which made me hopeful that we would see more shoes in store soon. I asked an SA and she said although they are NOT a shoe anthro they will occasionally receive one or two styles of shoes and it all depends on how well these ones do as they are the first shoes that they have received. Oh please lulu gods, please bring in a full selection of shoes. I'm deeply in love with Miss Albright shoes and like to be able to try them on in store instead of ordering online. There was also a sign outside advertising a few job postings and I momentarily dreamed of working at Anthro (oh how I would love to) but my current position of SAHM has really horrible hours and would not allow me to juggle this gig (or could I??). I'm sure going to daydream about it though...

Calliope Dress

I really, really liked the Calliope Dress on. It is a pullover style with an elastic waist and pockets and a gorgeous print.  I tried it on in a 10 and it was roomy and comfortable. I think I would have liked a bit more length to this dress but that's really nit-picking. I'm wish listing this for now. It needs to be something that can be styled for Fall for me to jump on it at this point and I'm not so sure it is but the colors are right up my alley. 

Cropped Wisely Blazer 

I'm on the hunt for the perfect cropped and casual blazer to wear with my Longwing Pullover to extend it's life into fall as well as something I can pair with other 'summer' tops that I'd still like to wear. The shape and fabric of the Cropped Wisely Blazer is just perfect and I even really like the print but I just don't know if I am crazy about the print or if I'd get bored with it after a while. Even for the marked down price of $59 + 25% off I wasn't quite ready to jump on it. I think it looks great in this outfit and I think it would pare nicely with the Longwing Pullover since it has soft peachy flowers in the print and it's got the same romantic feel to it. I'm so torn because looking at this picture this outfit looks so cute to me but I think what I want is to wait for a 2nd cut on this or even just wait until the last possible second when I have to run around hunting for it in my size in an exorcise of insanity. This was the size 8 in the picture and it was slightly too small. I tried on the 10 as well and that fit me perfectly. Oh if only there was a solid neutral version of this blazer. To add annoyance to my wishy-washyness, there was a neutral grey cropped blazer marked down which I did love, and it was similar in styling to this one...but it was size 2 and there were no others. That one I would have jumped on. 

Grapevine Tank

 I really liked the grapevine tank when it first came online and I have it on my wishlist. The print is pretty and I love the embroidered neckline but I don't love it for $88 and I also don't like that the embroidered neckline narrows in such a way that you can see my bra straps. I'm not sure I would transition this to fall so I'm wish listing it for markdown but won't be horribly upset if it sells out. Love but pass.

Verdant Slip Dress

I've been meaning to try the Verdant Slip dress on since I love the print and colors so I grabbed it to add to my pile today in a size 10. I think the 10 is the right size for me but I don't love what happens to my hips in this dress. There is a bit of a bubble/poof effect bellow the waist and that is just not on for my body shape. The dress was comfortable and a lot less revealing and more substantial than I thought it would be for a silk slip of a dress. The neckline is not too low and it's really quite flattering around the middle. Loved it but didn't feel the need to have it at this moment. 

Lacey Turning Cami

My only purchase today was the grey Lacey Turning Cami for about $16. I got the ivory one last weekend with my Longwing pullover and I've found it to be a really versatile layering piece in my closet and I really love the bit of lace peaking thru underneath my shirts. I was bummed when I didn't find my size today since it was my main goal on today's shopping trip.  Just as I was leaving the fitting rooms I saw they were putting some of these back on the rack and low and behold they had some mediums. I really liked the Moss one too but the lace is the same color as the tank so you don't get the same pop of lace as you do with the grey one so I just got the grey today. 

Sempervivum Belt $58 ($68 in my store)

I've tried this belt on twice now and I really love it. It's a little pricey for a crochet belt so I think I'm going to wait a while to get this. It may very well be a full price purchase for me but not anytime soon. I need to have specific items I'd like to wear this with before I seriously consider the full price and I don't think I have any items in my closet right now begging to be paired with it. 

Lush Lattice Shirt/Sorbet Skirt

This was an interesting styling of the Lush Lattice Shirt. I can't say I like the skirt much (pattern is just not me) but it's interesting seeing this top tucked in to a pencil skirt. keeping this idea filed away since I love this shirt and have it wish listed for later consideration.

Settee Rose Skirt

I think I'm as enamored with this skirt as I am with my Sailboat Skirt. Every time I see the Sailboat Skirt in store I still feel the need to touch and admire it even though I already own it. I feel the same love for my Longwing Pullover which means they will get a lot of wear over time.  I'm sure when I finally get a chance to try this skirt on I'll have to bring it home with me right away.  The print seems year round versatile and I love the shape of it for my figure. I'm finding skirts this shape are the right balance between casual and dressy for me  and are more effortless then a dress (even though a dress requires less styling). So at $88 I think this skirt has a good cost per wear value in my closet

Full-On-Floral Skirt

This skirt is another one high on my wish list but the price drops it down a few notches below the Settee Skirt. I adore the print, it's exactly my style and in colors I gravitate to but I don't want to pay double the price of another skirt I love only for the print. Both the Settee skirt and this one are machine washable fabrics. I think I expected this skirt to be made of silk for this price point but perhaps it's silk cotton. Pass until it gets markdown or until I win the lotto. 

Lowland Rugosa Tank

I'm constantly drawn to this type of embroidered flower print and I love the color combinations. It's almost exactly like the Lush Lattice Shirt but with bigger flowers so I think I like this one better because it has more of the element that I love...but I like that the LL Shirt is longer sleeved. What is it about these embroidered flower prints that I'm so drawn to? I think it reminds me of something from my childhood that my mom had but I can't quite place what it was. Wish listed for later consideration. 

Add This To My Lust List

Good morning pretty dress. I am in Love! This dress is too adorably cute for words. I don't know how I feel about wearing a halter dress but I adore the print with little line drawn lemons edged in black with black piping detail around the bust line and waist. I'm not sure I really have anywhere special to wear this dress in order to justify the purchase but I sure would love to see it hanging in my closet. Maybe I would even wear this just simply because it's warm out. The price is pretty reasonable so I may just pull the trigger on this one in the near future or see if I can find it in Seattle next weekend. I wont buy it today because I've read rumours of a possible large sale tomorrow and I want to see what get's uploaded but if this dress is as soft as the Dutch Yellow Shift Dress (loved it but the fit was horrible) which felt like a brushed thin cotton then I would very much wear this dress on a hot summer day to nowhere special.

Spotted: Anthropologie On Glee Season 2 Finale

Quinn Fabray (Dianna Argon) Spotted in Anthropologie Mompos Dress on tonights episode of Glee season 2 finale. I am a huge fan of Glee and love spotting all of the Anthropologie on the show. I've always admired Lea Michelles style as preppy, cute and different and admired the costumes of the cast before I knew it was even Anthropologie. Once I started recognizing the styles from the website I got really excited about looking out for them.  I love reading the blog What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear which I very recently discovered.

Tippi Dress: Is She Just A Trophy Dress For Me?

I just finished reading Consume or Consumed blog post about the Tippi Dress I scored on Tag Sale markdown this past weekend. I'm still undecided if I like how the dress fits me. I love the dress itself, love the style, color and print but I just don't love how it catches at my hips. Initially I thought I'd like it over leggings but after trying it on I really don't like it that way. I'll probably end up keeping the dress as my first ever tag sale trophy piece or also to wear around in a very casual way in the very hot summer months. Any thoughts on this dress? Strong feelings either way?

Lemon Stick Wedges

Yesterday I was combing thru ebay (cheaper shipping rates and american prices) in search of these Lemon Stick Wedges that I have been literally fantasizing about daily since they first appeared on the website. My ebay search was totally fruitless except that I saw plenty of Primped and Pebbled Boots that were my Fall/Winter obsession and 'ones that got away'. I really hope that come Fall when I'm ready to order some boots I can still find these on ebay in brand new condition. I love them dearly. Seeing them on ebay though reminded me of the disappointment of not getting them when I had the chance and the need for them and so I decided to bite the bullet and order these lovelies finally. I'm so glad that I did because I would have been so mad at myself once they sold out and I have not seen a single pair of wedge sandals that I've liked even a little bit in comparison with these. I tried having my friend pick up a pair for me at her local store in the US but sadly they were all sold out except online. My new wedges should arrive in 7-10 business days unless it gets held up at customs, or the Canada Post strike affects my mail deliver. I hope these come in UPS or FedEx.

Primped and Pebbled Boots

Fresh off the shopping high of these shoes my husband declared to me last night that he would take a day off on Friday so that we could go to Seattle for some shopping What a good husband! He realizes this means the main destination will be both Anthropologies but he's still fine with that. He enjoys going on road trips even when it means I'll be shopping while he stands around outside with one or both children. 

Wildflower Foxtrot Dress

I'd like to try this dress on on Friday. I love the pleated bubble hem in the back and I love how loose fitting and summery this dress is. I'm in the market for a semi casual summer dress since I passed on this multi way one from Lululemon. I decided I think I want something a little fancier but still casual for that price ($88). I don't really *need* anything else on from Anthropolgie but I'm sure I'll find something. I'll make sure and post all about that trip and take plenty of pictures in store (love that anthro doesn't bat an eye at customers taking photos!) Anthro shopping is so much more fun now that I know what's in stores and what's current thanks to the new Vancouver Anthropolgie.
